Aromatherapy Oils
Some of the most widely used aromatherapy oils used in massage oil include tea Tree
, Lavender, Jasmine, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang
and Rosemary
. All have different healing properties. Tea Tree Oil is a time honored aromatherapy remedy for ringworm, athlete's foot and other fungal infections. Lavender is used for calming, treating minor depression and anxiety. Peppermint is used for tired and aching muscles. Tea Tree can be used to relieve stress. Ylang Ylang and Jasmine are both used to invigorate the muscles and give the massage client energy. Rosemary can be used to treat arthritis and muscle pain and is a stimulant that, used in the morning bath, is said to revive energy.
Choose a scented essential oil in an aromatherapy scent that you want. Oils allow the manipulation by the therapist to go a bit easier. Hands glide easily over the skin and massage the tired muscles and tissues. You can be purchased scented essential oil at organic or natural health stores. You'll also need olive oil to dilute the essential oil, and a small bottle to hold the finished massage oil. In addition to massage oil, some therapists use lotions.
